Born and raised in India, Dr. Bhattacharya’s academic journey began at Narendrapur Ram Krishna Mission and Jalpaiguri Zilla School, where he displayed exceptional academic prowess. His passion for medicine led him to pursue his medical degree at Medical College, Calcutta, where he graduated with honors in Biochemistry.

Dr. Bhattacharya’s career is characterized by his commitment to excellence and innovation. During his 12-year tenure in the United Kingdom, he developed a keen interest in Developmental Pediatrics. Throughout his career, Dr. Bhattacharya has been actively involved in medical education and examination processes. He has served as a Host Examiner for MRCP, UK examinations for children in the UK and has been involved in the DCH, UK India Examination initiative of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (RCPCH), UK. He has also contributed significantly to the National Fellowship program for the Neurodevelopmental Chapter of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) and the DCH/IPPC course for Sydney University, Australia.

Currently, Dr. Bhattacharya serves as the Director of the Post Graduate Diploma for Neurodevelopmental Disorder under the collaborative CCPTR program of the West Bengal University of Technology (MAKAUT) and is also the Director of Nabajatak Child Development Centre in Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Dr. Bhattacharya’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. He has received several awards and accolades, including the Pioneer Award by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, East Zone Branch, and the Bharat Jyoti Award by the India International Friendship Society. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), UK.

Internationally recognized for his expertise in pediatric neurodevelopment, Dr. Bhattacharya was selected as one of 27 experts by the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide expert input in an international consensus meeting in Vancouver, Canada, in June 2013, where core standards for ICF (International Classification of Functionality) for children were set.
